Assalam-o-Alaikum friends!
Very important alert for all mobile users in Pakistan! Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a major warning: any mobile SIM that remains inactive for 180 days (6 months) will be permanently blocked.
If your SIM has not been used for calls, messages, internet/data, or even recharged in the last 180 days, it will be closed. After blocking, the number can be re-issued to any other person.
What PTA Has Said
- SIM will be blocked if no activity for 180 days (no calls, no SMS, no internet usage, no recharge).
- Once blocked, the SIM cannot be reactivated.
- The number may be given to a new user.
- This step is to clean up the network, remove fake/unused SIMs, and improve number management.
Which SIMs Are at Risk?
- Any SIM not used for 6 months.
- No outgoing/incoming calls.
- No messages sent/received.
- No mobile data/internet used.
- No recharge done (recharge also counts as activity).

What Should You Do Right Now?
If any of your SIMs has been lying idle for months, activate it immediately:
- Make a small call.
- Send a message.
- Use mobile data/internet for a few seconds.
- Or simply recharge the SIM (even a small amount).
Do this today to save your number! Once blocked, your number can go to someone else – causing problems with bank accounts, apps, OTPs, and online registrations.

PTA’s warning is clear: use your SIM at least once every 6 months or it will be permanently blocked and the number re-issued. This is to improve network efficiency and stop unused/fake SIMs.
Check all your SIMs now – especially old ones you rarely use. A small action today can save your number for years. Share this with family and friends so no one loses their number!
