Hello, Basant lovers! 🪁🚫

Basant 2026 (6–8 February) is just around the corner, and excitement is at its peak. But Punjab Government has taken a strong step that everyone needs to know about.

Punjab Govt has banned 132 songs!

People are searching a lot these days:

  • Basant par ban 132 gano ki list
  • Don’t Play These 132 Songs on Basant 2026
  • Punjab Govt banned songs list Basant 2026
  • Vulgar songs ban on Basant Lahore

This ban is not specifically for Basant festival – it applies to stage dramas, theaters, public performances and public places (including rooftops during Basant). The Punjab Information Department (Secretary Information Asma Bukhari) has clarified that this decision is to stop the rising trend of vulgar, immoral, and obscene songs in performances.

Official Clarification from Punjab Govt

  • Secretary Information Punjab Asma Bukhari explained: This ban is not linked to any festival or Basant.
  • It targets 132 vulgar and immoral songs that have become common in stage dramas and public shows.
  • These songs are prohibited in public display, theaters, rooftops, transport, or any public space – especially during Basant when loud music is already restricted.
  • The ban aims to protect public morality, family values, and peaceful environment.

Why This Ban Matters for Basant

  • During Basant, rooftops become public gathering spots – playing these banned songs (even from speakers or phones) can lead to strict action.
  • Loud music / DJ / vulgar songs violate Sound Act / Noise Pollution laws – zero tolerance during festival days.
  • Police, local administration, and monitoring teams are on high alert – drones and CCTV everywhere.

Penalty If You Break the Rule

  • Rs 25,000 fine
  • Up to 6 months imprisonment (under Sound Act / related laws)
  • Immediate arrest if caught playing banned songs in public or on rooftops during Basant.

What Should You Do?

  • Completely avoid these 132 songs – do not play them on rooftops, in transport, or any public space during Basant.
  • Celebrate with simple cotton doora, legal kites, and no loud music.
  • If someone is playing banned songs, politely request them to stop – or report if needed.

This decision (even if late) is a good step. Punjab Government is trying to clean up theater culture and public spaces – Basant should remain a family festival of joy, not vulgarity or noise.
