Assalam-o-Alaikum Lahore walon aur Punjab ke doston! 🪁⚠️
Basant 2026 has just started, and the excitement is everywhere. But remember – celebrate safely to enjoy the festival without any risk of jail, heavy fines, or accidents. Punjab Police and the Government have made it very clear: rules must be followed strictly this year.
Here are the most important rules & warnings every kite flyer needs to know:
1. No Political Party, Leader, or Flag Kites Allowed – EVER
- Do NOT fly any kite with a political party name, leader photo, flag, symbol, slogan, or personality.
- This is strictly prohibited under law.
- Penalty if caught: 3 to 5 years imprisonment + heavy fine (possible under Anti-Terrorism Act or related laws).
2. Only Simple Cotton Doora (String) is Allowed
- Use only plain cotton doora / manja – no chemical, glass-coated, metal, or sharp string.
- Banned strings can cause serious injuries – zero tolerance.
- Penalty: Strict action, jail, and fine if used.
3. No Charkhi, No 132 Ban Song, Gattu, Priyaat, Motor or Any Machine on Roof
- Installing charkhi (reel), gattu, priyaat, motor, or any mechanical device on the roof to fly kites is completely banned.
- This violates the 132 ban song and Sound Act / Noise Pollution laws.
- Penalty: Up to Rs 25,000 fine + 6 months imprisonment.
4. No Kite Flying Before Official Festival Dates
- Flying kites after 8 February is strictly prohibited.
- Penalty: Up to 5 years imprisonment + fine up to Rs 20 lakh.

5. Safety Gloves Are Mandatory
- Always wear thick safety gloves while handling doora – a sharp string can cut hands badly.
- Police and rescue teams will be on high alert – safety first!
Government & Police Message
- Celebrate Basant with joy, but follow rules 100%
- Safe and peaceful festival only
- Drones, CCTV cameras, and police teams on every rooftop and road
- Anyone breaking rules will be arrested immediately

Quick Safety Tips for Basant 2026
- Buy only legal cotton doora and govt-approved kites (from Anarkali, Mochi Gate, or licensed sellers)
- Never leave children alone on the roof
- Wear gloves and keep first-aid ready
- If any injury or violation happens, call 15 immediately
Basant is a festival of happiness – not of accidents, injuries, or jail. Follow the rules, enjoy responsibly, and keep your family safe!
